Limassol is a leading city in the European Mobility Week: Thousands Embrace Sustainable Mobility!

The Limassol Municipality, in collaboration with the Cyprus Energy Office and the European Climate Pact, and with the backing of various organizations like Friends of the Earth Cyprus, RESET, and the Running-Fluent Initiative, successfully organized the European Sustainable Urban Mobility Week events in Limassol. Hundreds of people took part in events that promoted ecologically friendly transportation solutions and sustainable urban mobility. From September 16 to 22, people of all ages participated in participatory events that took place in Limassol's streets, including accessible walks, cycle tracks, and group art projects. On Saturday, September 21, the activities came to a conclusion when Independence Avenue was closed. This helped to establish a zone that was favorable to cyclists and pedestrians and encouraged people to consider sustainable urban mobility. Highlights of the occasion: Closing Independence Avenue will make the area bike and pedestrian friendly, allowing families to ride and stroll about freely in Limassol's downtown. Children's Games and Artistic Activities: Interactive games such as Jenga, collaborative painting and a bike track for children. Cycling in the Full Moonlight: Take a magical nighttime bike ride in the full moonlight. Accessibility Walk: A public debate will be held after the walk, which documents the difficulties encountered by individuals with impairments in Limassol. Many residents took part in the events, and kids of all ages could play in areas specifically created for them, engaging in creative pursuits and games like Jenga. Adults, on the other hand, experimented with eco-friendly mobility options by using Next Bike's electric buses and bicycles as well as other forms of alternative transportation.
